Alternate Processes

What Are Cyanotypes?
Cyanotypes are a photographic process that produces a blue-print like the one shown above. The process involves two chemicals: ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. This solution is used a sensitizer solution that is applied to a receptive surface such as paper or cloth and dried in the dark. Prints are made from negatives and positive images are produced by exposing them to UV light.

What Are Daguerreotypes?
A photographic process that involves a sheet of silver-plated copper and fumes that make the surface of the surface to be light sensitive. Expose it in a camera and fuming it with mercury vapor to remove its sensitivity to the light by liquid chemical treatment. Then rinse it and dry it and seal with protective seal such as glass.

What is Gum Bichromate?
Photographic printing process that is based on light sensitivity of dichromates. It is a multi-layered process that produces a wash of different shades of colors. Its all about layering different colors onto the original photo to increase saturation. Uses printmaking making paper to withstand extending soaking periods for multiple layers being exposed to the sun.
