Project 8- Alternate process prework Lumen Prints and Cyanotype prework
Lumen Prints

Lumen Prints were an early form of photographic processes that involved UV light. First you need to arrange physical subjects on your paper until you get the desired arrangement. Then, you need to cover your subject with a piece of glass, while making sure that your subjects are flat on the pieces of paper. After placing your glass on, place it outside and make sure that it is directly pointing towards the sun. It is best to complete this process when there is UV light (sunlight) as it is what creates the image. Make sure to monitor your photo and tape your photo to the ground as it absorbs the sunlight. Once the print has been developed by the sun make sure to take it out and bleach it then wash.
Cyanotypes
Trond Sandmo
Cyanotypes is used to produced cyanotype blue prints. They are usually blue in color and can have strong light and dark areas. There are brush marks on the margins of the photograph as the paper is visible. Cyanotypes are created by first mixing a solution of chemicals, then prepare the canvas using a brush to paint the solution on to the paper. To print a cyanotype place the negative or object in contact with the paper and place a piece of glass on top. After doing so, expose the negative sandwiched between the glass and paper to the sun or any UV light. After exposing to the light rinse in cold water to remove all the chemicals from the solution. Wash for at least 5 minutes
I love the depth and range of color in the cyanotype!
