Pre-work for Project 10 - Commercial Portraits

Image
Commercial Portraits are used for certain businesses to promote a product, cause, or brand. Photographers that shoot commercial portraits usually have a set idea in their mind for attracting an audience to focus on the business. Fine Art Portraits

A fine portrait is not just to capture moments of reality, but following a vision to create a photograph that conveys a message, belief, or emotion.    This photo reminds me of searching for a path to           In this photo, the girl on the ladder is some sort of future because he is on a ladder looking    reaching for something that seems to be light into the distance for something. Fine Art vs. Commercial Art

Image
Commercial Photography Fine Art Photo The photo of Beyonce in commercial photography is obviously manipulated to be for advertisement purposes. She is on the cover of Vogue magazine and advertising for fashion. This is different from the fine art photo because the commercial one has a totally different purpose. The fine art photo portrays a real and authentic side of Beyonce and her family, whereas the commercial one is about fashion. The position of Beyonce in commercial photography also accentuates her body and fashion, while the fine art photo feels like a natural photo.

Project 9 - Surrealism and Photo montage Final

Image
I created the first image using a close up of the Chihuly glass garden in Seattle and then I used a picture of me in Hawaii to create this surreal photo. I didn't really have a vision when I was creating this photo, but I played around with size and thought that this was a cool idea.  This photo I created involved a picture of my sister on Mt. Haleakala in Maui and the photos of Cate and Kate were used taken using a green screen. I wanted to make the picture look surreal by manipulating the position I took the photo of Cate and Kate. I also put a glass sculpture in the photo to represent the "sun". I also didn't really have a clear purpose for this photo, I just played around with different concepts and decided that this one was really good.

Vladimir Kush Salvador Dali What is Surrealism? Surrealism was a movement that took place in art during the 20th century. Some famous painters included Salvador Dali and Vladimir Kush. Surrealism is an abstract image that composed of irrational juxtapositions of images.  Farzana Ria This is an example of dreamlike surrealism because it has realistic pieces that are placed with the unrealistic views of how the world really looks. For example the realistic object are the person, desert, and trees. However when it is combined with the sky that shows our solar system, it makes it look surreal. The picture does not look real anymore because we wouldn't see this in real life. Justin Peters This is another example of surrealism because it involves realistic objects that we would see, however as the objects such as the moon and cliff together and he moon turning into sand, it looks surreal. A moon doesn't shatter into sand and...

Alternate Processes

Image
What Are Cyanotypes? Cyanotypes are a photographic process that produces a blue-print like the one shown above. The process involves two chemicals: ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. This solution is used a sensitizer solution that is applied to a receptive surface such as paper or cloth and dried in the dark. Prints are made from negatives and positive images are produced by exposing them to UV light.  What Are Daguerreotypes? A photographic process that involves a sheet of silver-plated copper and fumes that make the surface of the surface to be light sensitive. Expose it in a camera and fuming it with mercury vapor to remove its sensitivity to the light by liquid chemical treatment. Then rinse it and dry it and seal with protective seal such as glass.  What is Gum Bichromate? Photographic printing process that is based on light sensitivity of dichromates. It is a multi-layered process that produces a wash of different shades...
